Testicular cancer is the most common solid tumor in young adult men and the incidence is increasing across most parts of the world. Although the overall incidence to mortality ratio is very favorable, successful oncologic outcomes require a careful understanding of stage and risk-dependent management strategies, as well as knowledge regarding the appropriate integration of surgical and systemic therapies. Furthermore, a greater understanding of immediate and long-term side effects to different therapeutic modalities has in part been responsible for a renewed focus towards minimizing the therapeutic burden required to maintain high cure rates while sparing patients the associated intermediate and long-term sequelae of cancer-directed therapies.
