Sae Woong Kim is Professor and Chairman of Dept. Urology in Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic University Medical College (CUMC) in Seoul, Korea. He completed his specialty training in urology at the St. Mary's Hospital, CUMC and was a research fellow at the University of California, San Diego, USA from 1998-1999. He then continued his academic and clinical career at the St. Mary's Hospital, CUMC till 2008 and he is the professor and chairman of Dept. Urology, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, CUMC from 2009.
Dr. Kim serves as a president of Korean Society for Sexual Medicine and Andrology since 2014 and a secretary general in Asia Pacific Society of Men's Health & Aging (APSMH&A) since 2009. He is a executive committee member of Asian Pacific Prostate Society (APPS) and Asian Pacific Society for Sexual Medicine (APSSM).
Dr. Kim’s area of specialization is Late-onset hypogonadism (LOH), Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), and related sexual dysfunction. In particular, he has performed many cases in the GreenLight laser photoselective vaporization of the prostate.
Dr. Kim's major research interests include several urological areas with a specific focus on Andrology, diagnosis and management of prostate disease and voiding dysfunction. Dr. Kim has authored many articles. He has published more than 100 research and review papers and edited 8 textbooks. He has been invited to give lectures more than 100 times in the national and international meeting. Dr. Kim received awards for the best papers such as the best scientific paper award from GIAF in 2007, the best clinical paper award from Korean Continence Society and the best research paper award from Korean Pharmacologic society in 2008. And he received the Award of Asia Pacific Society of Sexual Medicine Research Grant in 2006, best research paper award from Korean Society for Sexual Medicine and Andrology in 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014. Moreover he has performed many clinical studies in the area of male sexual dysfunction, aging male, prostate disease and complimentary alternative medicine.
