Approximately 30–40% of the cases are deemed idiopathic, as there are no identifiable factors to explain the abnormal semen analysis results. Semen analysis (sperm concentration, motility and morphology) is still used for routine male infertility assessment; however, these parameters have shown to be limited as surrogate markers of male fertility.
