What are roles of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging prior to transurethral resection of bladder tumor?

Fumitaka Koga

Abstract

Accurate tumor staging, particularly diagnosing the presence of muscle invasion, is crucial for the management of non-metastatic bladder cancer (BC) patients; those without muscle invasion are generally managed conservatively with transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURB) and intravesical instillation therapy while those with muscle-invasive BC (MIBC) need more intensive therapy such as radical cystectomy plus urinary diversion or definitive chemoradiation.
